In November 2025 Travel Off Path reported that Cyprus is set to become the thirtieth member of Europe’s Schengen zone during 2026.
For travellers the practical detail is the ninety days. Today a visitor may spend ninety days in any 180 across the twenty-nine Schengen countries, and Cyprus has served as a reset country outside that count. Once the island joins, that workaround closes and Cypriot days become European days. Alongside it, visitors will register biometrics through the EU Entry/Exit System and obtain an ETIAS travel authorisation, at a fee of 20 euro, from late 2026.
Cyprus is set to become the 30th member of Europe’s Schengen zone.
For anyone who owns a home here, the direction matters more than the paperwork. An island inside the common European border is an island whose property market is read in the same terms as the rest of the continent, and reached without a separate stamp.
